Profession HQ publishes career guides for people applying to a specific job. If you have an interview for a school counselor position on Thursday, you should be able to find the questions that job's interviewers ask, why they ask them, and answers built from the actual work.
What's on the site
| Guide type | What you get |
|---|---|
| Interview questions | Questions for a specific job or employer, grouped by type, with why they ask, how to answer, and a sample answer |
| Career comparisons | Two job titles side by side: duties, reporting lines, training, licensing, median pay, and job outlook |
| Cover letters | A full example letter for the job, what goes in each paragraph, and versions for new grads and career changers |
How the guides are made
Each guide starts with research on the job itself: the Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Outlook Handbook for pay and outlook, O*NET for tasks and tools, licensing boards and certifying bodies for requirements, and employers' own career pages for hiring steps.
Pay figures name their source and year, such as "median pay of $51,140 in May 2025, per BLS." Every guide ends with a list of the pages it relied on, so you can check the details yourself.
Sample answers and example letters use invented names and companies. Use them to see what a strong answer contains, then replace the details with your own.
Read the full editorial policy for the standards every guide follows.
Corrections
Licensing rules, pay data, and hiring processes change. If something in a guide is wrong or out of date, email contact@professionhq.com with the page link and what needs fixing. Corrections are made to the guide itself. See the contact page for other questions.
